Know where to go for care

Although you can get health care many different places, including the emergency department, it’s best for you to get routine care and recommended preventive services from a primary care provider. There are some big differences between visits to your primary care provider and visits to the emergency department, such as cost, time spent waiting for care, and follow up.

Back To School Physicals

With the yearly back-to-school checklist always growing, ProgressHealth would like to help you check off at least one of the boxes. The American Association of Pediatrics recommends a yearly physical for all children and we recommend that you prepare appropriately for these exams. Not all health exams are the same, and our physicians will help assure that your child is completely ready for the next school year by double-checking all aspects of their health, whether it is physical, emotional, or social.

What makes a physical exam comprehensive?
A truly comprehensive exam is one that checks every box. During their comprehensive health exam, our Physicians check-in with how your child is feeling and doing in many categories:
  • Overall physical health and well-being
  • Sports participation and exercise
  • Mental health and intellectual development
  • Nutrition and healthy habit building
  • Social health, including self-esteem and healthy relationships

How to prepare for the exam?
A good physical exam for your child will always be helped if you are appropriately prepared for the exam appointment. We recommend having the following prior to the appointment:

  • Build your child’s complete medical history
  • Bring Vaccination records
  • Help your child understand that they should be completely open/honest with the physician
  • If they are involved in sports activities, bring the appropriate physical activity form.

Having this information prior your appointment as well as being open with your physician will help make this visit more comprehensive.
